incorporating examples, team exercises and intense case
studies taken from real world problems.

Multi-Instructor
Teaching Approach…
All Lean Six
SigmaSM training is conducted using a multiple instructor
teaching approach. This approach allows students to be exposed to the extensive knowledge and
experience of a variety of instructors. It also helps to keep
both the students and the instructors from becoming overly
fatigued.

Training
materials include textbooks, binders and miscellaneous
handouts. The use
of Minitab statistical software
and spreadsheets is emphasized
to support the lean and statistical calculations. The
instructors focus on the practical application of the tools
and methods. Course participants have reading and homework
assignments prior to each week of training. Training is constantly practiced, reinforced and tested to
ensure learning. Teachbacks,
passing a final comprehensive exam and project presentations
are required for successful completion of the
course.
There are two
curriculums, both of which are based
on the same tools, core principles and the DMAIC
process:
- Lean Six Sigma
for Manufacturing - The focus in this course material is
primarily on case studies, examples and exercises from a
variety of manufacturing environments. However, because all
manufacturing operations also include office processes
(e.g., order entry, scheduling, invoicing), about 30-40% of
the case studies, examples and exercises are based
on transactional processes.
- Lean Six Sigma for
Service - All of the
training is relevant to service and transactional processes
with applicable case studies and exercises included
throughout. Examples are drawn from
various industries including healthcare, banking and
insurance.
